Why I Love Traveling: A Journey Beyond Tech

February 20, 2025

While my career is rooted in technology, I find immense joy in traveling and exploring new cultures. From the bustling streets of Singapore to the serene landscapes of Zambia, traveling has taught me resilience and adaptability—skills that I bring back to my work in IT. It’s more than just a hobby; it’s a way to recharge and gain perspective beyond the screens and servers I deal with daily.

In Singapore, I was struck by the seamless integration of technology into everyday life—smart traffic systems, cashless payments, and towering skyscrapers with rooftop gardens. It inspired me to think about how Zambia could adopt similar innovations. Conversely, exploring Zambia’s rural areas, like the breathtaking Victoria Falls or the quiet villages along the Zambezi River, reminded me of the importance of balance. Technology should enhance life, not dominate it.

Traveling also sharpens problem-solving skills. Navigating unfamiliar places, dealing with language barriers, or fixing a sudden tech issue for a fellow traveler (yes, I’ve done that!) mirrors the troubleshooting I do at work. Each trip is a lesson in patience and creativity, and I return home with stories and ideas that fuel both my personal growth and professional projects.
