Back then, I was college student in Lusaka, Zambia, balancing the expectations of family, school, and my own aspirations. Obligation was not just a word,it was a daily reality. I felt a deep sense of duty to honor my parents’ sacrifices, excel in my studies, and lay the groundwork for a future in tech that I so desperately wanted to build.
At that age, obligation often felt like a heavy burden. I remember long nights studying for exams, not just for my own goals but because I knew my family was counting on me to succeed. There were moments I wanted to give in to the pressure, but I learned that obligation, when embraced, can be a powerful motivator. It pushed me to develop discipline, manage my time, and stay focused on what truly mattered. That sense of duty shaped me into the person I am today, an L2 Support Engineer at NetOne Zambia, where I now feel a new kind of obligation to my team, clients, and the tech community.
Looking back, I realize that obligation is not just about meeting expectations; it is about growth. It taught me resilience, accountability, and the value of showing up, even when it is hard.
